Rise Of Nation Game Review
TOTAL: 9.2/10 ( OUTSTANDING )
Graphics: 8/10
Sound: 9/10
Gameplay: 10/10
Replayability: 9/10
Play through time. From the beginning of civilization to the destruction of the world. Be dipomatic, or be a warmonger. It RISE OF NATIONS!
Graphics: 8
The building graphics are dated, but beautiful. Units will do some animations instead of standing still. Like the tanks will rotate the turret when waiting, or the soldiers will smoke or polish their weapons. When the building is under construction, you can see cranes and simple work tools doing their job. And for a nice touch, missiles are beautiful.
Sound: 9
You can hear alot of things going on. Like the rumble of Bombers and sirens during air raids. Soldiers marching and tanks rolling, nukes dropping, all have their own sound. I only hate the Oil Well sound, it is scary.
Gameplay: 10
Now this is where Rise Of Nations shine. This is like Civilization 3 in Real Time. Cities will have a border which will represent your turf. Like every RTS, you'll have to harvest stuff like food and wood. Rise Of Nations gives a new twist to the harvesting, you have to harvest knowledge to advance in technology.
My Favorite touch is the flamethrower unit and Caravans, Caravans will trade with other friendly cities automatically. Flamethrowers will burn cities to the ground and it is fun to see units being burnt by them. A new and fun part of the game is Conquer The World, explained in the next section.
Replayability: 9
Conquer The World will leave you wanting to conquer the world again. Pick a civilization, choose an area, and fight for your land. Each civilization will have it's avantages and disavantages. Like Korea will be surrounded by the Japanese, Mongols, Russians and Chineses. But Korea has the power of traditions, and is able to get resources fast. There are ( I think ) 18 civilizations all together, so you'll be playing for a long time.
Rise of Nations has it's potential of being one of the best.
